New Defence Facility, Police Base Open in Coventry Enhancing Security, Jobs

Coventry has recently seen significant developments in both defense and policing infrastructure, aiming to boost local employment and public safety. NP Aerospace inaugurated a new 5.73-acre facility in Coventry, enhancing the city's engineering capabilities and supporting the UK defense supply chain, with plans to create dozens of skilled jobs. Concurrently, West Midlands Police opened a new 24-hour police base in Canley, Coventry, replacing an outdated 1960s building to better support neighbourhood teams, emergency responders, and specialist task forces. This new base has already contributed to community safety, with recent arrests related to drug offenses highlighting its operational impact. Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster emphasized ongoing efforts to rebuild community policing to maintain a visible and reassuring presence in the area. Additionally, proceeds from the sale of the old police base are being reinvested into local policing initiatives.
