Chargers Offer Kaepernick Coaching Role

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has extended an offer to his former quarterback Colin Kaepernick to join the team in a coaching capacity, though Kaepernick has yet to respond definitively. Harbaugh, who coached Kaepernick with the San Francisco 49ers, believes the 36-year-old would make a tremendous coach if he chooses that path. Despite being out of the NFL since 2016, Kaepernick continues to train with hopes of returning as a player. He also expressed interest in representing the U.S. in flag football at the 2028 Olympics. Kaepernick's NFL career ended controversially after he knelt during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, leading to a collusion grievance against the league that was settled in 2019.
