Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, inaugurated the first Sainik School in Eastern Uttar Pradesh on Saturday in Gorakhpur, which spans 49 acres and was built at a cost of Rs 176 crore. The school, managed by the Uttar Pradesh Sainik School Society, aims to provide residential education to boys and girls from classes 6 to 12 under the mission 'Yuvaaon ko Shiksha, Desh ki Raksha.' Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has been a proponent of the school since its inception, was present at the ceremony. The institution features various facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, a hostel, sports courts, and aims to prepare students for the National Defence Academy (NDA). The first batch of students, comprising 84 boys and 40 girls, commenced classes in July. The rigorous admission process ensures that only those meeting high intellectual and physical standards are selected.
