Heather Knight Out, Sciver-Brunt Named England Captain
Heather Knight, former England women's cricket captain, has been ruled out of all home international matches and The Hundred in 2025 due to a significant right hamstring tendon injury suffered during the recent T20 series against West Indies. The England and Wales Cricket Board has not provided a specific return date but hopes Knight can recover in time for the ICC Women's World Cup in September 2025. Nat Sciver-Brunt has replaced Knight as captain following a challenging Ashes series. In response to Knight's confirmed absence, England has added Alice Capsey and Lauren Filer to their ODI squad for the upcoming series against West Indies and India. The team, under new coach Charlotte Edwards, is focusing on maintaining competitiveness and depth during this transitional period. Knight's injury, after previous hip and calf issues, is a critical setback for England's World Cup preparations.
