Florida Mother Charged with Murder of Daughter from Blunt Force Trauma

Naikishia L. Williams, a Florida mother, has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse after her seven-year-old daughter, Nia Williams, died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen. The incident occurred in Riviera Beach, and despite medical efforts, Nia could not be saved. The charges followed a two-month investigation, during which caretakers and family members revealed Williams was known to abuse Nia and that concerns had been raised to the Department of Children and Families just twelve days before the child's death. Authorities have emphasized that Williams' other children are now safe and under protective care. The case has drawn strong condemnation from those close to Nia, who described her as a brilliant and loving child. Williams is currently held without bond and is scheduled for a court appearance later this month.
