Phoenix Suns Announce New Coaching Staff Under Jordan Ott

The Phoenix Suns have finalized their coaching staff for the 2025-26 season under new head coach Jordan Ott, marking the franchise's fourth head coach in four seasons. Ott, previously an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers and former video coordinator for the Atlanta Hawks, brings a mix of experienced assistants and former NBA players to the team, including Jesse Mermuys, DeMarre Carroll, Brian Randle, Chaisson Allen, John Little, Mike Muscala, and Sean Dwyer, with Mateen Cleaves joining as a player development and leadership assistant. Mermuys, a Tucson native with 17 years of NBA assistant coaching experience, has recently been with the Orlando Magic and other NBA teams, while Carroll and Muscala bring firsthand playing and coaching experience, including time with the Cavaliers and Hawks. The Suns hope this coaching staff will help rebound from a disappointing 36-win season under Mike Budenholzer that ended with missing the playoffs, a first since 2019-20. The team opens the 2025-26 season on October 22 against the Sacramento Kings at PHX Arena. This new coaching lineup blends fresh perspectives with continuity, aiming to develop young talent and improve the Suns' competitive standing.
