Lakshya Chahar Advances Round of 16 World Boxing Championships Liverpool

India's Lakshya Chahar delivered a commanding performance to defeat Jordan's Hussein Iashaish 5-0 and advance to the round of 16 in the men's 80kg category at the World Boxing Championships in Liverpool. Chahar started aggressively, faced a challenge in the second round as Iashaish narrowed the gap, but dominated the third round to secure the victory. Meanwhile, Pawan Bartwal was eliminated from the men's 55kg event after a 0-5 loss to Uzbekistan's Mirzakhalilov Mirazizbek. Nikhat Zareen also impressed with a 5-0 win over the USA's Jennifer Lozano in the women's 51kg category, despite not competing internationally this year. However, Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain and Hitesh Gulia suffered defeats in their respective bouts. India has fielded a 20-member team at the inaugural World Championships under the new governing body World Boxing, with three more Indian boxers scheduled to compete later in the event.
