Schools Close Across Region Due to Weather

Due to severe winter weather, multiple school districts across the region have announced closures for January 7. In Putnam County, all schools are closed, with some utilizing eLearning days, while Greencastle Community Schools has designated February 17 as a makeup day. Lawrence Public Schools also closed due to extreme cold and heavy snowfall, with wind chills posing safety risks for students and staff. Fairfax County Public Schools canceled all activities on January 6 in anticipation of a snowstorm, and other local government offices followed suit. The decisions were made to ensure the safety of families and provide adequate time for childcare arrangements, with ongoing assessments of further weather impacts.
