Events.com Acquires San Diego's Wonderfront Festival

Events.com has acquired the Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival in San Diego, enhancing its live events division and aiming to elevate the festival using advanced technology. The festival, which debuted in 2019 and attracted nearly 42,000 attendees last year, will now be held on May 16-18, 2025, with early bird tickets currently available. Adjustments for 2025 include moving the festival dates to avoid conflicts with Mother's Day, adding more entry gates to mitigate long lines, and expanding the Electric Lounge area. Paul Thornton, the festival's founder, expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to bolster the festival's reputation as a 'tastemaker festival.' Events.com’s CEO Mitch Thrower aims to transform iconic events into revenue-generating assets, drawing on their extensive marketing reach. This acquisition reflects a broader trend in the festival industry, which has faced challenges recently but is poised for growth with strategic enhancements.
