Buxton, Acuña, Raleigh, Wood Confirmed for 2025 MLB Home Run Derby
Minnesota Twins star Byron Buxton will compete in the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby, joining Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuña Jr., Seattle Mariners' Cal Raleigh, and Washington Nationals' James Wood among the eight-player field. The event will take place at Truist Park in Atlanta, Buxton's home region, which he described as a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to play near home with his family in attendance. Buxton, currently having a career-high season with 20 home runs and significant contributions to his team, expressed excitement about participating and noted the support from teammates, friends, and family, including his son Brix who looks forward to supporting him. Other participants include James Wood, a young Nationals star with impressive power numbers, and Cal Raleigh, the current MLB home run leader. Defending champion Teoscar Hernández will not defend his title this year. The Derby is scheduled for July 14, just before Buxton represents the American League in the All-Star Game.
