India Sends Record Athletes to Paris 2024 Paralympics

India is set to send its largest-ever delegation of 84 para-athletes to the Paris 2024 Paralympics, competing in 12 sports, including debuts in para cycling, para rowing, and para judo. The Indian team aims to surpass their 19-medal tally from the Tokyo Paralympics, with prominent athletes like Sumit Antil and Avani Lekhara leading the charge. The Paralympics will commence on August 28, 2024, with Sumit Antil serving as India's flag-bearer. Australia's 158-athlete contingent will compete in 17 sports, with high expectations to improve upon their 80 medals from Tokyo. The event will feature a total of 549 events across 22 sports, running until September 9, 2024. Notable global stars like Jessica Long from Team USA will also be in action, aiming to extend her dominance in swimming events.
