China, Armenia Form Strategic Partnership, Iran, Armenia Near Similar Pact
China and Armenia have elevated their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership during a meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, with Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasizing mutual support and deeper cooperation across all fields. Concurrently, Armenia is also advancing its ties with Iran, as Armenian National Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan visited Tehran to discuss and negotiate a comprehensive strategic partnership document, which is expected to be signed soon. Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, highlighted the importance of this partnership for regional peace and economic integration, expressing satisfaction with recent visits and agreements. Both Armenia and Iran stressed the need to deepen continuous dialogue and accelerate implementation of bilateral projects, particularly the North–South Corridor, to enhance economic and political convergence within the Eurasian Union. They also emphasized expanding trade, joint investments, and cooperation in innovative sectors such as advanced technologies, biotechnology, and nanotechnology, aiming to strengthen their strategic alliance. Both partnerships with China and Iran reflect Armenia’s broader strategy to strengthen regional ties and ensure stability amid geopolitical sensitivities.
