Kansas City Current Places USWNT Defender Cook on Season-Ending Injury List

Kansas City Current defender Alana Cook has been placed on the season-ending injury list after suffering a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus in a match against the Orlando Pride on May 16. Cook, who was acquired in a midseason trade from Seattle in 2024, had quickly become a key player for the Current and recently earned a call-up to the U.S. Women's National Team, marking her first appearance since October 2023. Head coach Vlatko Andonovski praised Cook's resilience and determination and expressed confidence in her recovery, with the team committed to supporting her. Cook's injury is a significant blow to the Current, who are also dealing with injuries to key players Debinha and Temwa Chawinga but remain atop the NWSL standings.
