Crane Collapse Kills Two Workers Everett Massachusetts

A large crane collapsed onto a barge at the former Exxon terminal on Rover Street along the Mystic River in Everett, Massachusetts, on Friday while crews were dismantling parts of the site. Two construction workers — both men reported to be in their 30s or 40s — were killed; one was extricated, taken to a hospital and later died, while the second was recovered from the wreckage after a complex technical recovery. Officials said a cable apparently snapped during dismantling, but investigators and OSHA have been notified and the exact cause remains under investigation. Multiple agencies including Everett Fire, Police and EMS, Boston police and fire, the Coast Guard and Massport responded, with rescue boats on the water and a second crane brought in to assist recovery. Mayor Carlo DeMaria described the scene as “tragic,” and authorities have urged the public to avoid the area as the probe continues.
