Super Mario Galaxy Movie Sequel Set for April 2026 Release

Nintendo and Illumination have officially announced the sequel to the successful Super Mario Bros. Movie, titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, set for worldwide release on April 3, 2026. Returning voice actors include Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black as Bowser, with additional cast to be revealed later. The film draws inspiration from the acclaimed 2007 and 2010 Super Mario Galaxy games, promising a visually stunning space adventure that expands on the Mario universe beyond the original film's settings. This announcement was part of a broader Nintendo Direct presentation celebrating the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., which also unveiled new game releases and updates for the Nintendo Switch and upcoming Switch 2. The first Super Mario Bros. Movie grossed $1.36 billion globally, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of its year and prompting the rapid development of this sequel. Alongside the animated sequel, Nintendo is also developing a live-action Legend of Zelda movie slated for 2027.
