Two Miami-Dade deputies injured in crash with 18-wheeler

Two Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office detectives were injured in a collision with an 18-wheeler in Miami Gardens late Thursday night. The incident occurred around 11:36 p.m. at the intersection of NW 12th Avenue and NW 167th Street when the detectives, in an unmarked vehicle, collided with the semi-truck. Both officers were transported to Jackson Memorial Ryder Trauma Center and are reported to be in stable condition, having suffered minor injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured. The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit. A significant presence of fellow officers was noted outside the hospital, indicating support for their injured colleagues.
