US Marks Hispanic Heritage Month With Arts, Festivals
Communities across the U.S. are marking Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15) with festivals, awards, museum exhibitions and community gatherings that celebrate Latino culture and support local businesses. Union County, N.J., will host a Family Fun Day and present 2025 Hispanic Heritage Awards, while Bellevue’s Fiesta Latina and Yelp’s “Hecho in Richmond” series spotlight local Latinx food, vendors and entrepreneurs. Museums and galleries are foregrounding Puerto Rican and Latino histories, including the University of Minnesota’s “Vaivén” exhibition on Puerto Rican migration and Chicago’s National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture exhibit on Roberto Clemente, alongside local showcases of Hispanic/Latino contributions. Local arts initiatives center Latina voices and community storytelling — examples include Winston-Salem’s “She Rises: Arte y Alma de la Mujer Latina,” Houston’s Art in the Heart programs, and efforts to revive landmarks like Teatro Puerto Rico. Leaders and artists, including Idaho’s Mari Ramos, emphasize migration, memory, resilience and intergenerational connection. Many events combine music, food, markets and performances, are free or low-cost, and some require registration or RSVPs while also aiming to promote civic engagement and access to services.
