Wizards Trade for Illinois' Will Riley at No. 21
Will Riley, a 19-year-old Canadian forward from Kitchener, Ontario, was selected 21st overall in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz and immediately traded to the Washington Wizards for the 18th pick, Walter Clayton Jr., and multiple future second-round picks. Riley, who played his freshman season at Illinois, averaged 12.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, earning Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year honors and setting several freshman records. He finished the season strongly, averaging nearly 16 points over his last 15 games. Riley joins the Wizards alongside sixth overall pick Tre Johnson as part of a broader roster revamp that included multiple draft night trades. He is the first Canadian selected in the 2025 draft and the 38th Canadian drafted since 1989. His selection marks the first time in two decades that Illinois had two first-round NBA picks.
