Sam Raimi, renowned for his iconic work in horror including The Evil Dead, is producing a remake of the 1978 psychological horror film Magic through his Raimi Productions. The original film, starring Anthony Hopkins as a magician tormented by his ventriloquist dummy, is a cult classic praised for its blend of suspense and psychological depth, holding an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Lionsgate is backing the project, with Roy Lee, known for producing major horror hits like It and The Ring, also attached as a producer. The screenplay for the remake is being written by Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, who previously collaborated with Raimi on other horror projects such as Freddy vs. Jason and Send Help. Additional producers include Chris Hammond and Tim Sullivan, who secured the rights for the remake and have championed the project for years.
