Hungarian National Charged with Murdering Elderly Men in Miami, Miami Beach

Zsolt Zsolyomi, a 25-year-old Hungarian national, has been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder following investigations into the deaths of two elderly men in Miami and Miami Beach. The first victim, Rodolfo Fernandez de Velasco, was found dead in his vehicle with both front seatbelts around his neck, and authorities concluded he died from asphyxiation during a staged hit-and-run. The second victim, a 66-year-old man, was discovered in his bathtub, having also been strangled, and evidence suggests he and Zsolyomi were in an intimate relationship. Zsolyomi, who overstayed his visa and was already in the system for deportation, was apprehended after detectives connected him to both murders through surveillance footage and fingerprint evidence. He has been denied bond and remains in custody as investigations continue to determine if there are more victims. Police have expressed concerns that Zsolyomi could have continued his violent actions had he not been caught.
