Pakistan Appoints Shane McDermott All-Format Fielding Coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Australian Shane McDermott as the new all-format fielding coach, replacing Mohammad Masroor who served on a series-to-series basis and recently exited the role. McDermott, 44, brings extensive international coaching experience, having worked with teams including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Australia, and holds a High Performance Level Three Coaching Certificate. His appointment, supported by Pakistan's new white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, comes as Pakistan prepares for a busy international schedule starting with the T20I series against Bangladesh. McDermott is expected to help address Pakistan's long-standing fielding weaknesses by instilling more discipline and professionalism within the team. The PCB has also reappointed Grant Luden as Strength and Conditioning Coach and appointed former fast bowler Umar Gul as head coach of Pakistan Shaheens to strengthen coaching and player development. These changes reflect a broader effort by PCB to restructure the coaching staff and improve Pakistan’s overall performance in upcoming tournaments.
