Airbus, Amazon Partner for Satellite-Based Airline Connectivity

Airbus has signed a provisional agreement with Amazon to integrate Project Kuiper, Amazon's satellite internet network, into its High Bandwidth Connectivity Plus (HBCplus) programme. This collaboration aims to enhance in-flight connectivity services for airlines operating Airbus aircraft, enabling downlink speeds of up to one gigabit per second. The announcement was made during a cabin interiors exhibition in Hamburg and highlights the growing demand for fast, low-latency connectivity in aviation. Chris Weber from Amazon noted that this partnership will help airlines offer better onboard experiences, while Airbus's Tim Sommer expressed excitement about the potential of the new satellite technology. The deal represents a significant step in improving internet access for passengers and optimizing flight operations. The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
