Severe Weather Forecast Ahead of Thanksgiving
A series of storms is set to impact the U.S. this week, bringing much-needed rain to drought-stricken areas, especially in the Southern Plains where a tornado watch is in effect for over 2 million people. Oklahoma City, which experienced one of its driest Octobers, has recorded nearly 7 inches of rain this November, making it the fourth wettest on record. Meanwhile, the Pacific Northwest is bracing for a significant atmospheric river, expected to deliver heavy rainfall and mountain snow. Flood watches are in place across parts of Texas and Oklahoma, while winter storm warnings cover more than 25 million people in the Midwest and Northeast. Forecasters predict that as the storms progress, snow may also accumulate in higher elevations across the Appalachian Mountains and parts of the Midwest. Travelers should prepare for possible disruptions ahead of the busy Thanksgiving week.
