UK's Largest Drug Smuggling Gang Jailed

A major organized crime gang in the UK has been sentenced for smuggling drugs worth up to £7 billion, marking it as the largest drug operation ever detected in the country. Ringleader Paul Green, 59, also known as The Big Fella, and ten accomplices were convicted in trials that spanned nearly two years, with total sentences exceeding 200 years. The gang used front companies and concealed drugs within shipments of onions, garlic, and ginger to evade law enforcement. Investigators from the National Crime Agency (NCA) uncovered at least 240 importations of drugs, despite only six seizures being recorded. Prosecutors described the operation as industrial in scale, with the gang's activities causing significant harm across the UK. The judge noted the gang's determination to continue operations even after arrests and drug seizures.
