Chery Denies Turkey Factory, Seeks Partnerships

Chinese carmaker Chery plans to invest $1 billion in a facility in Turkey's Samsun province with a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles annually, according to statements from the Turkish presidency. However, Chery has denied plans to build a factory in Turkey, indicating an interest in seeking partnerships with third parties instead. This investment aligns with Turkey's ambition to become a regional manufacturing hub, focusing on electric and hybrid vehicles. Discussions between Turkey's Industry and Technology Ministry and Chery are ongoing. The project is anticipated to create employment for 5,000 people and, if realized, would be the second Chinese car brand produced in Turkey after BYD.
