Filmmaker Vineeth Sreenivasan has defended actor Nivin Pauly against sexual assault allegations, asserting that Nivin was working on a film set in Kochi during the time of the alleged incident in Dubai. Sreenivasan confirmed they were together from December 14 to the early hours of December 15, 2023, and stated that there were many witnesses to corroborate Nivin's alibi, including several junior artists involved in the shoot. The allegations involve a woman who claims she was assaulted by Nivin and others after being promised a film role, with the case being registered by the Oonnukal police. Nivin has publicly denied the accusations via social media, calling them entirely untrue and promising to take legal action to clear his name. He emphasized the importance of addressing false allegations, stating that they should not become the norm. As the investigation continues, a Special Investigation Team has been formed to look into the case and similar incidents in the Malayalam film industry.
