Two Arrested for Kidnapping Missing Infant in Sioux Falls Case

Authorities have arrested Betty Jewel Cross, 38, in connection with the kidnapping of 7-month-old Chosen Butler, who was reported missing after being temporarily placed in Cross's care. Cross and Butler were located in Detroit, Michigan, where Butler was found unharmed and placed in protective custody, awaiting return to South Dakota. A second woman, Taylor Edwards, was also arrested and charged with kidnapping for allegedly assisting Cross in taking the infant out of state. Both women are being held with a $100,000 bond as they await extradition. The South Dakota Department of Social Services has stated they will facilitate Butler's return to his home state. Police had initially reported no safety concerns regarding Butler's well-being during the search.
