Ruoning Yin Wins 2024 Maybank Championship in Malaysia

Ruoning Yin, the world No. 4 golfer from China, claimed her fifth LPGA Tour victory by winning the 2024 Maybank Championship in Malaysia, marking her second win in three starts. She prevailed with a one-stroke victory over Jeeno Thitikul after shooting a bogey-free 7-under 65 in the final round, finishing at 23 under for the tournament. Yin had previously won the Buick LPGA Shanghai two weeks prior and teamed with Thitikul to win the Dow Championship earlier this season. Despite early season struggles and doubts, Yin's focus on enjoying the game has been pivotal to her recent success, earning her $450,000 for this tournament and bringing her career earnings to over $5.4 million. Her victory in Malaysia also makes her the second Chinese player, after Shanshan Feng, to win there. Yin joins the ranks of major champions Nelly Korda, Lydia Ko, and Hannah Green as one of the LPGA's three-time winners this season.
