Dolly Parton Named Guinness World Records Icon For 11 Titles
Dolly Parton has been named a Guinness World Records Icon in recognition of her 11 record-breaking titles, including most consecutive decades with top 10 album entries on the Billboard country chart, most studio albums by a female country artist, and most Grammy nominations for a female country artist. She is also the first country singer to be nominated for the EGOT awards—Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. The Icon certificate was presented to her at her studios in Nashville as part of Guinness World Records' 70th anniversary celebrations, joining a roster of previous recipients such as Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Drake, Paul McCartney, and Elton John. Craig Glenday, editor in chief of Guinness World Records, lauded Parton as a living legend whose influence extends beyond music into philanthropy, including poverty relief, education, medical research, and her Imagination Library free-books campaign. Although retired from touring, Parton plans a short residency in Las Vegas later in 2025 and has paused new music projects following the recent death of her husband, Carl Dean. Her latest album, Rockstar, was released in 2023, and she recently collaborated on a deluxe version of Sabrina Carpenter’s "Please Please Please."
