BCB Assures Players of Payment Amid Delays

Faruque Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has assured players of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) that they will receive their payments despite several franchises, except Fortune Barishal, failing to meet the required bank guarantee for player remuneration. The BPL payment structure mandates that franchises pay 50% of player fees before the tournament, 25% during, and the remainder post-tournament; however, players report not having received any payments to date. Ahmed acknowledged ongoing communication with franchise owners, emphasizing the need for payments and the partnership between the board and franchises in promoting Bangladesh cricket. He could not provide a definitive reason for the lack of guarantees but urged consideration of the broader circumstances affecting franchises. Despite the payment delays, players such as Durbar Rajshahi's captain have expressed optimism that the situation will resolve without complications, attributing the delays to logistical challenges. The issue of player payments has emerged alongside other concerns, including a ticketing mishap that occurred on the tournament's opening day.
