Plans Submitted for Luxury Private Garden at Longleat

Plans have been submitted to Wiltshire Council for a luxurious family garden at Longleat Estate, aimed at enabling Lord and Lady Bath to continue residing there. The proposed design includes a swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen and dining area, and various ornamental features, transitioning from the existing private garden deemed unsuitable for a young family. The new garden concept emphasizes family-friendliness and heritage compatibility, as the estate is a national heritage asset with public tours. The current garden, designed by the 7th Marquis, is described as an abstract art piece, which does not serve the needs of a younger family. This initiative follows the 8th Marquis and his family's move into the estate during the Covid pandemic after the death of the 7th Marquis. A decision on the plans is expected in March.
