Cleveland Legend Rocky Colavito Dies at 91
Rocky Colavito, a beloved baseball slugger and nine-time All-Star, has died at age 91. Known for his powerful hitting, Colavito played 14 seasons in Major League Baseball, notably with the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) and Detroit Tigers, hitting a total of 374 home runs. His 1960 trade from Cleveland to Detroit for Harvey Kuenn is remembered as one of the most controversial in Cleveland sports history. Colavito was celebrated for his charismatic personality and on-field prowess, which included a memorable 1959 game where he hit four home runs. He was inducted into the Guardians Hall of Fame in 2006 and was honored with a statue in Cleveland's Little Italy in 2021. Colavito's passing was confirmed by his family and he died peacefully at home in Bernville, Pennsylvania, surrounded by loved ones.
