Brentford Nears Keith Andrews Appointment as Manager After Frank Departure

Brentford is close to appointing Keith Andrews, currently their set-piece coach, as the new head coach following Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham Hotspur. Andrews, a former Republic of Ireland international with 35 caps, has been part of Brentford's coaching staff since July 2024 and is highly regarded for his work, especially in set-piece situations which contributed significantly to Brentford's success last season. Although this would be Andrews' first managerial role, the club favors promoting from within, continuing a philosophy that previously saw successful internal promotions. Other candidates considered included Kieran McKenna and Ange Postecoglou, but Andrews' familiarity with the club and coaching abilities gave him the edge. Andrews' coaching career includes roles at MK Dons, Sheffield United, and with the Republic of Ireland senior and U21 teams, and his playing career spanned several clubs including Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers. The club is also expected to bring in experienced coaches to support Andrews as he steps into his new role.
