Andor Creator Rejects Jyn Erso Cameo as Disrespectful
The 'Andor' series, which serves as a prequel to 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,' notably excludes the character Jyn Erso, despite her crucial role in the film. Creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy explained that including Jyn as a cameo would have felt "lame" and "disrespectful," as it might have undermined the integrity of 'Rogue One.' Gilroy considered the challenge of integrating multiple existing characters from 'Rogue One,' such as Galen Erso and Tivic the Spy, but ultimately decided that only necessary characters should appear to maintain narrative cohesion. Several other 'Rogue One' characters, including Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, Orson Krennic, and Ruescott Melshi, did appear to connect the two stories. Gilroy emphasized his desire to honor the original film and keep the storylines clear, rejecting forced cameos that could disrupt the established timeline. The series concludes just before the events of 'Rogue One,' highlighting Cassian Andor's pivotal role in the Rebellion without overshadowing Jyn Erso's story.
