Following Colt's shooting spree at Apalachee High School, which left two students and two teachers dead, Colin was charged with second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and cruelty to children. His legal team argues that extensive media coverage and social media discussions have fueled a hostile environment, leading to threats of harm and even death against him. Colin's attorneys warned that the community's anger towards him is likely mirrored in the inmate population, making it unsafe for him to remain among other inmates. He faces up to 180 years in prison if convicted, while Colt has been charged as an adult with four counts of felony murder. Both are currently being held without bond.
