British Hiker Matthew Hall Found Dead Italian Alps After Weeklong Search

Matthew Hall, a 33-year-old British hiker from Hull, was found dead in the Italian Alps near Chiavenna after going missing on July 9 while on a hiking trip. He had sent a final text message to friends indicating he was lost and resting after taking a wrong turn on a trail. His body was discovered in a crevice close to where he had sent the last message, and a helicopter was required to recover him due to the dangerous terrain. Hall had been staying at a B&B near Valchiavenna and was reported missing after failing to check out and collect breakfast for several days. Friends and family, including his mother Sara Foster, had traveled to Italy to aid in the search. Local authorities confirmed the discovery and notified the family following the tragic find.
