Delhi Court to Rule on Engineer Rashid Bail Plea

A Delhi court is expected to announce its decision on October 15 regarding the regular bail plea of Engineer Rashid, an Independent Lok Sabha MP from Baramulla, in a terror funding case. Rashid, who has been in Tihar jail since 2019 after his arrest by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, was granted interim bail on September 10 to campaign for the recent Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The elections, held from September 18 to October 1, concluded with the National Conference-Congress alliance securing a majority. The judge had previously postponed the decision on Rashid's permanent bail application. Rashid's political career began in 2008, and he remains a significant figure in Jammu and Kashmir's political landscape despite his legal troubles.
