Hansen revealed the news during a performance on the season finale of NBC's The Voice, introducing guitarist Luis Maldonado as his successor, who has previously served as the band's interim lead singer during a Latin American tour. Hansen expressed pride in passing the role to Maldonado, praising his voice, energy, and soul to carry Foreigner's legacy forward. Founding member Mick Jones, the only original member still with the band, also endorsed the transition, noting Hansen's significant contributions and Maldonado's impressive performances. Maldonado is set to become the permanent lead vocalist after the tour, sharing the stage with Hansen on select dates.
