Broncos Place DL Malcolm Roach On IR, Promote QB Sam Ehlinger

The Denver Broncos have placed defensive lineman Malcolm Roach on injured reserve due to a grade two calf strain, sidelining him for at least the first four games of the 2025 season. Roach, who had a career-best 2024 season, will miss early contests but is eligible to return by week 5, posing a short-term challenge for Denver's run defense. To fill the roster spot, the Broncos promoted quarterback Sam Ehlinger from the practice squad to serve as the emergency third-string quarterback behind starter Bo Nix and backup Jarrett Stidham. Additionally, the team elevated fullback Adam Prentice and inside linebacker Levelle Bailey from the practice squad to address other positional needs. The Broncos will rely on depth players such as Eyioma Uwazruike and Jordan Jackson to step up on the defensive line during Roach's absence, with rookie Sai’vion Jones possibly activated as well. Ehlinger had declined offers from other teams to remain with the Broncos, highlighting the team's confidence in his abilities and readiness to contribute if needed.
