Uzbek Citizen Detained in General's Murder Case
Russian authorities have detained a 29-year-old Uzbek citizen in connection with the assassination of Lt Gen Igor Kirillov, head of the military's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defence Forces, who was killed in a bombing in Moscow. The suspect allegedly received instructions from Ukrainian intelligence, with reports stating he was promised $100,000 and EU travel in return for his actions. Kirillov and his assistant died when a remotely detonated device hidden in a scooter exploded as they exited a residential building. The Russian FSB claims the individual was recruited by Ukraine's security service, while a Ukrainian source confirmed involvement in the attack. Investigations are ongoing, with additional suspects reportedly detained who may have identified those who ordered the attack. This incident marks a significant escalation in hostilities between Russia and Ukraine amid ongoing tensions.
