Devon Singletary Wins Nationwide Fan Casting for Hunger Games Prequel

Lionsgate has announced that Florida-based actor Devon Singletary won a nationwide fan casting contest for a speaking role in "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," the upcoming prequel film. Singletary will portray Blair, a close friend of Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada, in the story set 25 years before the original Hunger Games saga. The contest, held in May 2025, invited fans to submit one-minute audition videos showcasing any talent, with no acting experience required. Singletary's reaction to winning was captured on video alongside cast members McKenna Grace, Whitney Peak, and Joseph Zada, who congratulated him and expressed excitement. The film features a star-studded cast including Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Elle Fanning, and Maya Hawke, directed by Francis Lawrence, and is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026. "Sunrise on the Reaping" is based on Suzanne Collins' novel of the same name, which debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List and explores the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell.
