Record WSL Appearance-Holder Nobbs Joins Newcastle
Jordan Nobbs, the record appearance-holder in the Women's Super League (WSL) with 208 games, has joined Women's Super League 2 side Newcastle United following her release from Aston Villa. The 32-year-old midfielder, who began her career at Sunderland and spent 13 years at Arsenal winning three WSL titles and multiple domestic cups, expressed enthusiasm about joining an ambitious club aiming for promotion and advancing women's football in the North East. Nobbs, who has 71 England caps with her most recent in 2023, emphasized her winning mentality and desire to contribute to a successful team. Newcastle manager Becky Langley praised Nobbs' experience and quality, highlighting her as one of the best midfielders in the country. Newcastle finished fifth in WSL2 last season and view Nobbs' signing as a key move to push the club to the next level. Nobbs described her return to the North East as "the perfect circle," calling the decision to join Newcastle a "no brainer."
