Himachal Pradesh Police have identified approximately 50 suspects, including leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), in connection with violent protests demanding the demolition of a mosque in Sanjauli. The protests escalated on September 11, leading to clashes between demonstrators and police, resulting in injuries to six officers. Police have registered eight cases against the identified individuals, who face various charges including promoting religious enmity and unlawful assembly. Evidence such as CCTV footage and call detail records is being utilized to further investigate the incidents and identify more offenders. Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi emphasized that the protest was premeditated and that instigators using social media will also be held accountable. The situation remains tense as police continue their efforts to apprehend the absconding suspects.
