The show, created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, follows a documentary crew that previously covered Dunder Mifflin as they seek a new subject—a struggling historic Midwestern newspaper and its efforts to revive it with volunteer reporters. The casting news was uniquely revealed by the Palisadian Post, where the new cast shadowed reporters in preparation for their roles. This series, which is not a direct spinoff but shares thematic elements, continues the legacy of the original show, which has maintained a strong fanbase since its conclusion in 2013. Executive producers include the original creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, along with other notable industry figures. Universal Television is producing the series, which is rumored to be titled 'The Paper'.
