Lizzo’s Lawyers Seek Dismissal of Stylist’s Discrimination Lawsuit

Lizzo's legal team has filed a motion seeking dismissal of a lawsuit brought by former wardrobe assistant Asha Daniels, who accused Lizzo's touring company of racism, bullying, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, and wrongful termination during the 2023 European tour. Lizzo's attorneys describe Daniels as a "disgruntled former employee with an inflated ego" who harbors "personal vendettas" and lacks any witness testimony or concrete evidence to support her claims. They argue the allegations are "absurd" and motivated by Daniels' dissatisfaction with her assistant role, which did not grant her direct access to Lizzo, and contend that any workplace issues were addressed and investigated without finding illegal conduct. Daniels' lawyer, Ronald Zambrano, counters that the defense's motion is meritless and characterized by victim blaming, expressing confidence that the judge will deny the motion and the case will proceed to trial. Previously, a judge ruled Lizzo could not be personally sued, leaving her company Big Grrrl Touring as the defendant. The judge's ruling on the current dismissal motion is pending, with a potential jury trial expected in December if the case continues.
