South San Francisco police have shut down a suspected brothel operating out of a downtown apartment and arrested Xiuli Wei, 65, from Rowland Heights, on charges of pimping and pandering. Officers had been investigating the location for several weeks following tips and conducted a surveillance operation before obtaining a search warrant. Upon executing the warrant on September 5, police found $10,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from the brothel, two human trafficking survivors, and two suspected sex buyers. The survivors were offered services, while it remains unclear if the sex buyers will face charges. Wei, accused of assisting in the brothel's management and profiting from its earnings, was booked into San Mateo County Jail but has since bonded out. Authorities are encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the South San Francisco Police Department or their Criminal Interdiction Unit.
