Caltrans Shifts SR 111 Construction to Nighttime to Alleviate Traffic in Palm Springs

In response to public concerns about traffic congestion and delays, the Caltrans Highway 111 Roadway Project in Palm Springs will shift to nighttime construction beginning March 3. Work will occur Monday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., with no operations planned for weekends. This schedule change aims to minimize disruptions for commuters while allowing the project to progress, with nighttime paving expected to finish by late March. Additional construction will follow for bus pads at 11 SunLine bus stop locations. Residents can expect typical nighttime construction noise and lane closures, but major intersections will remain accessible to avoid significant traffic impact. The entire project is projected to be completed by the end of April 2025.
