Rohit, Kohli Set to Return for Australia Tour
India will tour Australia in October–November for three ODIs (Perth Oct 19, Adelaide Oct 23, Sydney Oct 25) followed by five T20Is (Oct 29–Nov 8), and the BCCI is set to name squads with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to the ODI side. Selectors are expected to retain much of the Champions Trophy core, including likely inclusion of Shreyas Iyer, while a decision looms over whether Rohit will continue as ODI captain or Test skipper Shubman Gill will take the ODI leadership. Rishabh Pant has been ruled out with a foot fracture, opening the door for Sanju Samson to return as KL Rahul’s backup wicketkeeper-batsman. Shubman Gill may be rested at times to manage his workload. Jasprit Bumrah could be rested with Mohammed Siraj in contention, and Hardik Pandya is expected to miss the tour with a quadriceps injury, boosting chances for replacements such as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ishan Dube or Priyansh Arya. An India-A unofficial ODI in Kanpur has also put in-form players including Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma in contention for white-ball selection ahead of the senior tour.
