Gable Steveson Returns to Minnesota Wrestling Team

Gable Steveson, the Olympic gold medalist and two-time NCAA heavyweight champion, is coming out of retirement to return to the University of Minnesota's wrestling team for his fifth and final season. Steveson, who has an impressive 85-2 career record, will make his season debut on November 24 against Campbell. His decision to return is facilitated by an extra year of NCAA eligibility granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an Olympic redshirt. Steveson's foray into professional wrestling with WWE and a brief stint with the NFL's Buffalo Bills did not pan out as expected. Despite past challenges, including resurfaced allegations and a critically panned WWE match, Steveson aims to further solidify his legacy in collegiate wrestling. Coach Brandon Eggum expressed gratitude for Steveson's return, noting his significant impact on the program.
