Slovakia Revokes Protection for Artem Marchevskyi
Slovakia has revoked the temporary protection of Artem Marchevskyi, a Ukrainian-Israeli citizen accused of running a pro-Russian propaganda campaign through the Voice of Europe website, which has been linked to disinformation efforts in the EU. Marchevskyi had previously received refuge in Slovakia after being placed on the Czech sanctions list in March, but Slovak authorities canceled his protection on July 3, with the revocation taking effect on July 25. Meanwhile, in Lithuania, the Migration Department has revoked the permanent residence permit of Russian citizen Valery Ivanov due to his alleged support for international crimes against Lithuania, allowing him to appeal the decision within 14 days. Ivanov's legal troubles stem from his leadership of the pro-Soviet organization “Jedinstvo.” In separate incidents, six fatalities were reported in Ukraine's attacks in Russia's Belgorod region, marking the ongoing violence related to the conflict. Both Marchevskyi's and Ivanov's cases highlight the European nations' increasing scrutiny of individuals linked to pro-Russian activities amid heightened tensions in the region.
